Expert tile layer, artisan, superior quality craftsman are all words that describe Mario Martinez. Mario is honest, hard and fast working, and tidy. His recommendations are sound, his bids are honest (he knows how long it will take and how much it will cost). We have loved the floors that he has laid for us.
On the recommendation of our neighbor, we asked Mario to give us a bid on tiling most of our upstairs (a split entry, living room, kitchen, dining room, hallway and bathroom. That was in 2015. Within the 10 minutes it took him to measure the house, he realized we had a crooked wall and floor that wasn’t level. He explained how he could make those problems less obvious.
Mario also looked at several tile choices that I was debating between and told me the pros and cons of each. I wanted a pattern in our living area and Mario suggested the metallic black/gray tiles that supply a level of artistry and beauty that we wouldn’t have achieved without his talent and eye for design.
Our house has a split entry and the wall boards of the cheaply built stairway had been patched multiple times. I didn’t want to ever deal with that problem again. I wanted to tile up the walls. Mario created the design of the pattern on our stairs that has been beautiful and durable.
I didn’t like bullnose tile and I didn’t want wood floor boards around the edges of the rooms. Mario helped me choose a tile with edges that he could use to tile up the walls and finish where the baseboards had been. He told us upfront that we would need to buy more tile for these extras, but has always been accurate on how much we would need to complete the project and have a few left over in case any break and need to be replaced.
Since then, Mario has tiled our downstairs, a family room laundry/bathroom, and office. Most recently he tiled the upstairs master bathroom for us.
Through the process of refurbishing of our home, Mario has also patched and painted walls, and installed our kitchen. He does an excellent job of painting. He’s the only person I know that can paint and doesn’t get any paint on himself or anything else.
He takes pride in his work. All of his work has withstood the test of time.

Like often happens in business, we heard of Mario from a neighbor who loved the job that he did with her tile. Word-of-mouth is often a great way to know the truth.
We would describe Mario and the quality of his work with nothing but superlatives. He was immensely helpful as we worked on the layout of the tile and the accents that we hoped we could do in certain areas. He was actually the one who came up with the ideas for the final accents, and we were thrilled with the result.
He has a gift for seeing the possibilities, and it reflects his years of experience. In creating accents, he always lays things out in pencil first so you can see the basic idea. He then cuts the tile and ensures that you are still happy with the plan before he cements them in. He pays close attention to detail, and talks with you frequently about the important details, especially when there may be pros and cons with one layout versus another. He takes the time, and I was happy to pay him for the extra attention.
He is very careful with the proper installation of the tile so that you won’t experience any problems with the floor going forward. Our tile has stood up to lots of wear and tear from active children. We are grateful that Mario did it right.
Finally, Mario is very friendly and patient. That makes a big difference, especially when you have a big job like we did. He educates you in the basics of what he does as he goes along. He pleasantly answers every question. In short, he is a pleasure to work with!
If I ever have any future tiling needs, I will refuse to call anybody else!
